Blood siblings

„The voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground“
1. Book of Moses (Genesis), chapter 4, verse 10

The idea:
A connection shall be established between the people, free of religious affiliation, heritage, education, and gender, beyond national borders, that creates a feeling of „fraternization“ and „sorority“ of „blood siblings“.

The concept:
The recipients of this artistic work will donate a drop of blood. That drop will be mixed in a special glass jar with all the other recipients‘ blood drops. That connects all participants and makes them blood siblings.

The jar of blood should hang in the middle of a room, gently swinging when new blood is added. A white dove hovers above the jar.
Four plates of soil should lie on the ground below the jar, symbolizing the four cardinal directions. Written on the plates is the sentence: „The voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.“ That originates from the 1st Book of Moses (Genesis), chapter 4, verse 10. That was God`s response to the sin of Cain, who slew his brother Abel. A black raven sits right in the middle of the plates.

Implementation plan:
People can donate a drop of blood at the doorway of the room or house, wherever the jar of blood has traveled. It should be a completely voluntary deed. People who only like to view the exhibition may have free entrance as well.
To donate the drop of blood is as easy as to determine the blood sugar content. A sterile lancet is used to pierce the fingertip or earlobe, and the drop of blood is collected in a small glass tube. Afterwards an anticoagulant (EDTA), that prevents the blood from clotting, is added in a pipet.
That procedure will be done by a trained medical professional.
The donated blood will be added to the jar and mixed with the other blood from time to time.
(The blood will not be misused for any other testing purposes. After the donation it is anonymously mixed with the blood of the other participants, and the donor cannot be retraced.)
